When I started my blog, I was initially leaning towards having a lookbook with a total black or black and white aesthetic, as most of the clothes that exist in my wardrobe are either black or white. These colors perfectly match my personality, there's no in between. As I grow older and become wiser, I'm starting to venture out of my fashion comfort zone and I’m beginning to let my blog persona have fun by trying my hand at color combinations and even experimenting with prints. Trust me, that's HUGE for me.
One of my favorite trends of Spring 2016 has me stargazing. From teeny starry patterns to oversize, bold prints, I'm officially obsessed with everything that includes stars. The star-printed trend is the easiest way to way to add an edgy detail to any outfit and it’s way fresher for spring than florals. I’m so star struck, I’m even drawing stars on all my snaps (snapchat: misssalinas).
The stars in the Mara Hoffman top I'm wearing look like I’ve pasted my childhood stickers on them. Spring is in the air and I'm feeling ultra experimental, so I wore this top with light denim and bright yellow Manolo Blahnik pumps. While I'm not comfortable mixing patterns a la Anna Dello Russo yet (perhaps I’ll never be) my rule for prints is to pair them with simpler, more minimalist pieces to let this statement-making trend shine. Keep your eyes to the stars…
