ART WALK

March 29, 2016

I love visiting art galleries. When I do, I typically hit a few of them at a time. I had a few pending gallery visits but I messed up the days of their opening receptions and I missed them. First stop was KM Fine Arts to see “ENDORSEMENT”, a beautiful exhibition of Kurt Cobain's personal possessions photographed by my friend Geoff Moore. After that, I stopped by Taschen. They had two exhibits showing, “The Revenant” and “Shooting for Stardust”. While I'm NOT a fan of The Revenant movie (I couldn't wait for the film to be over when I was watched it in the theater) the photography by my fellow Mexicano, Emanuel Lubezki aka “El Chivo”, is brilliant! It was nice to get to see those gorgeous shots on prints hanging in the gallery. David Bowie’s various alter egos come shining through on each and every one of Mick Rock's photographs featured in the “Shooting for Stardust” exhibit. It's always super inspiring to be reminded of the brilliance and artistry of Mr. Bowie.

I wore an ensemble perfectly casual for my little early spring art walk in West Hollywood. The shirt and denim shorts may be casual, but the classic trench coat and edgy boots really amp up the style of this look. I'm obsessed with denim cutoffs. I wear them with everything during every season, always keeping in mind that no cheekies should be visibly hanging out. A long trench coat is always a quick solution to hide this issue. There are trench vest options as well, during warmer weather. Also, always make sure to wear the shorts a little baggy.
