BOSS BABE

June 14, 2016

There comes a time when a girl needs to leave her ripped jeans and t-shirts at home. Even casual Cali West Coast gals like myself sometimes need to suit up and dress like a BOSS. For any important business meeting, bringing your A-game is only half of the equation. The other half is simply looking the part, because you never get a second chance to make a first impression. I don't have a 9 to 5 job, but I often have business meetings where I have to look like a responsible human that pays bills on time. Picking up an outfit can be a nightmare that often leaves me running late, buried in clothes that to a mere mortal would make killer outfits, but to me they're all crap that wake up the fashion monster in me, leaving me looking anxious in my undies staring at PILES of clothes thinking "I've got nothing to wear!!!". I'm sure many can relate...

Before you decide on an outfit for a business meeting, consider the audience. Personally, I can never wear a pant suit or a pencil skirt suit with a button down shirt. It's not feminine, it's claustrophobic and boring and I look like I'm wearing a costume. There's nothing worse than feeling uncomfortable in an outfit that doesn't resonate with who you are. Even though you always wanna be remembered for you and not for what you're wearing, your personal style needs to shine through your outfit, regardless of the dress code. There's a few simple rules to keep in mind: steer clear of anything too bright, too tight and too revealing. Other than that, it's ok experiment away and have fun.

For me, this look is perfect for a business meeting, no matter the audience. It screams professional and confident but it's not boring or predictable. The crop top brings a little a sexy and the motto jacket adds edge. Sticking to monochrome or black and white keeps any look classic and refined. A few tips: wear at least one statement piece such as fabulous heels, start with a classic office garment and add items according to your mood and don't forget that #BOSSBABE attitude!
