Awards season is in full swing and so is the fashion. This year I’ll be draped in gold, swathed and adorned in high glamour, looking like the golden trophy I’m bound to run into at the many parties I’ll attend.
And the winner is... this Self-Portrait dress! With its American Hustle vibe, it fits into the formal dress etiquette, but it's not too formal to outshine the stars in the building. For pre-Oscars nights, I prefer to wear simple shapes like this in single colors, keeping the hair and makeup elegant. It's all a warm up for the big night, where I usually attend the Elton John's AIDS Foundation Oscar Viewing party and opt for a more ballgown princess-y silhouette (I still have no idea what I'll wear this year).
Speaking of ballgowns, have you noticed lately how the people who make the best-dressed lists are rarely the award nominees or winners? Take this past Golden Globes, for example. The best dressed, in my opinion, was Zendaya in her Marchesa ballgown. I tagged my bff on a photo of Zendaya's red carpet moment via Marchesa's Instagram. She texted me back how much she loved the dress as well, but we were both confused as to what exactly Zendaya's occupation actually is. I love the girl, I follow her on Instagram and I adore her style, but I literally had to google her to find out that she's a singer. Whoops!
Enjoy all the fashion during this year’s awards season! I’ll be making some lists of my own: best-dressed, worst-dressed and out-dressed. I suppose it’s better to be included on a list than not included at all…
