LAYER YOUR SLIP

November 14, 2016

What do we wear when it’s too hot for coats, too cold for dresses and you live in LA (or any other city with not super wintery weather)? We wear layers. There's nothing I like more than being comfortable in the outfits I wear, hence my obsession with slip dresses, but they're too thin to wear solo in fall/winter. I've put together three ways of layering a slip dress so you can transition your summer slips into the chillier days and nights.

1. A good idea is to take your favorite slip dress from summer and wear it over jeans.

This will keep your legs warm enough without having to recur to tights. I love tights but they're super constricting. This option also allows you to still show your shoulder tan. I wore my DVF lace slip dress over Express distressed jeans (on sale now), with a Sandro classic leather moto jacket, Dior cat-eye sunglasses, Gucci Dionysus bag and my favorite Zara suede nude mules (similar here) that go with everything.

2. Denim mini skirt over a slip dress

If you can't bring yourself to wear pants under the dress, channel 90s vibes wearing a denim miniskirt over one of your summer slip dresses. I wore a Reformation denim skirt over the same DVF slip dress above with Alaia suede sandals, Illesteva sunglasses and a vintage trench coat (similar Lanvin vintage coat here) for a more polished classic look that you can easily wear for a business meeting.

3. Patent leather skirt over skimpy slip dress.

I love a good skimpy slip dress because it makes you feel like you’re still in bed. For a night on the town, I layered my Naked Wardrobe skimpy slip dress (similar here) with the Reformation patent mini skirt I've been persuading you to buy for fall (similar here) and again my Alaia pom-pom sandals.
